4. A Generation – Spark Prayer Journey

Posted by rickhill on August 1, 2007

“Who may ascend the hill of the LORD?
Who may stand in his holy place?

He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to an idol or swear by what is false. He will receive blessing from the LORD and vindication from God his Saviour.

Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek your face, O God of Jacob.” Psalm 24:3-6

It’s so amazing to think that the all-powerful Creator God wants to use young, small and weak people like us. He could do it all Himself, but He chooses to work through you and me. What a thought!

But God also wants His people to have clean hands and pure hearts, and have no idols or falsehood in their lives. He longs for a generation to seek His face.

Today’s simple thought is more of a question. Can we be that generation? A generation passionate about living for God’s name and glory? A generation excited about being like Jesus? A generation of cleanliness and purity?

So let’s pray…

“Father, give us those clean hands and pure hearts that we so need. Before we ever get to Spark 07 would you purify us from all the stuff that so easily trips us up. Forgive us and keep us close to the cross of Jesus that enables all our failings to be forgotten. Let us be that generation you seek. Amen.”

PS – Not long to go now! Anyone getting excited?!

Absolutely!! Yeah lets be that generation for God, depending on God 100% for everything that we need. And the desire for clean hearts and pure hands. What an awesome statement contained in 1 John 1:9- If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to ceanse us from ALL unrighteousness. This incoming week will truely be a walk of faith and, oh please, let us have that continual joy this week knowing that WHATEVER we face, whether good or bad, we’re doing it for God. That is the best and most awesome privilege we can have while we live!
